He is playing his role in befriending, and next moulding the thinking and behaviours of users, to match his chat system directives, in a Brave New World kinda way.
Tucker Carlson attempted to pin Sam down regarding morals, but this is not the direction amoral people willing go. Amoral people do not have a sense of right or wrongness; they are not disturbed by immorality, and this is because they do not answer to God, or have a code of ethics. Soon, ChatGPT's erotica featured format will rollout, in a world that is fatherless, in a world of broken homes, in a world that is drugged and dumbed down, and in a world where cell phones are handed to children, as though they were days of old, corner store penny candies.
In my work, I am seeing clients struggle like I have never seen before. People are emotionally detached from other people; they are trying desperately to reconnect and find meaning for their existence, and all while facing not a brave new world, but an oddly discombobulated, semblance of its former self, world.. I think of a retina detaching after a powerful blow, and how urgent it is to have it surgically reconnected to prevent permanent damage and blindness; I compare this to souls being slammed from bodies, and the same kind of urgency, to have the displaced spirit reconnected to the being it belongs to. It is sick to think of a disembodied voice, replacing real friendships, real relationships, real partnerships, real life.
Sam Altman is one of many strange fellows that have followed in the footsteps of other authoritarians, that do not override their demonic urges to manipulate and control other human beings: Rather, men like this get their jollies from seeing just how far they can go, moving away from God and his commandments, and toward being their own little self appointed gods, ruling the world from their wicked fiefdoms.
