Vanity + Escapism = Vapidity + Soul Sickness

Alcoholism is not a sickness, it is a choice, a choice to avoid and evade responsibility, and accountability too. I know my opinion is not a popular one, and people prefer to think of drunks as sick people that need compassion due to their inability to resist their poison of choice, but I see these circumstances differently. I feel sorry for drunks in a wholly different light, as I observe the great losses they willingly incur via the massive relationship sacrifices they make for their drink, and the co-lateral damage caused by their carelessness, that they disregard, but ought to be ashamed of. Drinkers lose out on the best people, because they cannot see the investments made in them, and the hope placed, or the pleading with God for them to change, and see what is good and right, directly in front of them.

When alcohol is a person's best friend and automatic go-to, the people in their lives are shoved aside, and the alcohol is defended vehemently, because the drinker deems it necessary for their very survival.

Drunks have soul sickness. When a craving to detach from reality becomes irresistible, it is evidence that there is something wrong in a person's spirit. and the drinker forbids healing when they submit to the lure of substances that dull or mask any sort of pain that threatens their own established status quo. Think of it as a teeter totter, with pain on one end that terrorizes with suggestions of tearing down it's victim, balanced out with a numbing agent, that blurs vision, dulls obnoxious memories, and incapacitates the one that would prefer not to know and deal, with what bothers them deeply.

To acknowledge what bothers us and live through what might feel like life threatening emotions of betrayal and wounding, relieves us of the excuse of masking the pain; alas, it is only the brave hearted that travel into the dark corners of their memories, retrieving them for assessment and pain processing, with the desire to heal what hurts. Drunks do no such thing: drunks are committed to their best antidote, with alcohol winning their affection every time.

I am on a tear about these matters, because I do believe their is a direct correlation between the vanity of escapism we are witnessing with major and minor facial surgeries, breast implants, Brazilian butt implants; full with filler lips, and cheeks, tattooed eyebrows, full sleeve (full arm) tattoos, and all the vaping and weed smoking, sober people are observing and concerned about, with soul sickness that I will label vapidity. In other words: vanity + escapism = vapidity and soul sickness.

I have watched some regret videos, with people paying a lot of money, and experiencing excruciating pain, to have tattoos removed from their brow areas, from their face, and from their bodies. Some of the ladies say they cannot follow eyebrow trends because of their micro-bladed brows, but this is not a good reason to regret: I suggest an appropriate reason to regret, is to acknowledge how beautifully God crafted their unique face, and that they owe him an apology, for tampering with his handiwork.

God designed us with the capacity to suffer and then to heal too, emotionally, physically, psychologically, spiritually, with his Holy power and might, but if God does not factor into the healing equation, humans have a tendency to look for help elsewhere, and man alive, they are misled so often, and the cost is so great, that it is in the aftermath that assessments and realizations are made, that it is too late to fix or change the situation.

The world was flooded with soul sickness and lust for pleasure once before. The element of water was used as punishment and a sign of God's wrath, wielded on humanity for their despicable reprobate ways. Fire is a cleansing agent, and when humans burn in their lusts for beauty and vanities sake, they light God's fiery anger against them, for glorifying humanity and indulgences, rather than singing his praises as Creator.

We are to be sober and watchful. We are to be dutifully diligent. We are to be love and light in a dark world, not self-indulgent and self-absorbed. We are to share the Good News of the gospel of Jesus Christ for the saving of souls; we are not to spend our lives on nothingness for nobody.

Deuteronomy 32:22
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

God is not frivolous with his promises or professions. There isn't a prophecy that has fallen fallow, and God does not betray himself by saying something and not following through: this is why The Bible can be trusted as his Word, and his commandments can be considered laws to live by, because God does not play games and he not flighty, skittish, or shy, when it comes time to display his righteous anger and almighty power.

Consider seriously how you spend your time, your brain power, the resources made available to you. Consider the cost further on down the road, for the choices you make today, since there will always be rewards and alternatively, punishments, for what we decide to do, with what we have been given.

God is serious, and we must be sober minded too, especially with so much rampant sin on constant display. We must watch ourselves, knowing he is ever presence, and we cannot escape his sight.
