MAID - A One Way Ticket To Hell

Today I struggle with a plethora of competing emotions. A good friend's nephew died at a tender, young adult age, his life removed from him violently, leaving a devastating mark of utter helpless despair on his parents, and all his kin. The grief of this death washes over me, and has me recalling similar ICU circumstances, recently experienced when my sister was in deaths grip. I cried for the young man and his family, not for my own sister in this instance, because they were singular humans, each crafted by the hand of God, each deserving of tears being shed on their behalf. Death, is a thief.

My friend shared about a couple she is familiar with, an elderly duo that have determined their own death dates, which has been established for this month of October, some time next week. If we could hear the conversation they had had concerning their plans for self-murder, it may have sounded something like this: 

Husband: Honey, there is something we need to discuss. I am worn out, more tired than I have ever been. I can't do what I used to do, and everything is sore and hurts. What if we choose a death date, like April from next door did? If we do this, we will be holding hands into eternity. It has been a good life, and I know you are tired too. I wouldn't want to live without you, and I am ready, if you are, for our next adventure. 

Wife: I have been thinking about this too, since April used MAID. I know Ester has been on about it as a great way to go ... Yes dear, I agree. I want to die with dignity, and be in charge of the arrangements, maybe even donate organs that still work, haha! 

When is the right time for us? What do you suggest? 

Husband: How about the fall, when the leaves change colour, and sprinkle the earth ... we will die with them and be renewed when we open our eyes on the other side! It is kind of romantic, isn't it sweetheart? 

Wife:  I have heard it is painless, and I do want to hold your hand as we slip away from here, and into a better, more peaceful place. It does sound quite lovely. We can have them play our first dance wedding song! 

Husband: I will find the number and call first thing in the morning to start making the arrangements. 

Wife: Agreed

Glorified suicide, dear reader, is what MAID promotes. Recycling and reusing 100% organically made organs, is considered a wonderful gift to give, when you or I decide to off ourselves. Do you think I am harsh, dear one, as I speak so candidly? If so, then perhaps you haven't witnessed nurses and doctors asking an in-emergency-room family member, if they have considered MAID, and organ donation, when they are in the hospital for help and urgent medical care. I witnessed this happening to my sister, and the elderly lady in the bed next to hers in emergency, more than six years ago. 

MAID is a one way ticket to hell. It is a way of playing God with ones own life, if someone chooses to off themself; and playing murderer, if one chooses to assist in killing another. Truly, both are killers, murderers ... the one that agrees to their own earthy demise, and the one that deems it acceptable to take measures to snuff out life. It is a wicked, twisted, sick in the head and soul non-solution to aging and suffering. We are not pets to be put out of our misery, and it is not a neat and clean procedure, to make an appointment for our death date. It is a satanic and sadistic lie whispered repeatedly in the ears of the susceptible, that they have the right to choose death, when and if they so desire, and that they will carry on in the next life, in a "better place." 

Do you know what has happened, dear one? Can you explain what has occurred? 

People hate God, they hate him so much, that they give themselves every bit of freedom they can possibly take, to establish a feigned reality, that they are in charge. You know, arrogance is truly an embarrassingly sinful state of mind. When humans believe they have the right to power over life and death, their own and that of others, they have lowered themselves to the quintessential depths, of being utterly godless. 

Next week, a husband and wife will entrust their individual murders to people that will be tender, and kind, while they anticipate a lethal injection of this concoction, or something similar:

midazolam (an anxiolytic), 10 mg; propofol (an anesthetic coma-inducing agent), 1000 mg; and rocuronium, 200 mg, or cistracurium, 40 mg (neuromuscular blockers to stop respiration). 

anxiolytic - reduces anxiety symptoms and is also known as an anti-anxiety agent or minor tranquilizer. Examples include drugs like Xanax, Ativan, Valium

propofol - an intravenous anesthetic used for procedural sedation, during monitored anesthesia care, or as an induction agent for general anesthesia

rocuronium - induces muscle paralysis 

cistracurium - muscle relaxant, used to stop respiration

Well now, we have a subject ready to be killed calmly, don't we dear reader, with drugs like Xanax, Ativan, and Valium. Who wouldn't want to extinguish the urge to run as fast as they can, away from someone that has agreed to kill them? This soothing medication will make everything feel surreal, rather than terror inducing. 

With some sedation, a sleepy feeling will soothe and smooth out any fears and qualms about this whole suicide mission. Muscle relaxants will help keep the prey and predator in a holding position to complete the task at hand, and when those lungs can no longer suck in air and push it back out again, then the job is done, fait accompli. 

MAID, at your service. Neat and clean: we kill em, tag em, and bag em, no fuss, no muss. Now, off you go, for that well planned egg and tuna fish sandwich with dessert, celebration of life for your dearly departed!

Do you see how sick this is, or is it just me? Life is our greatest God given gift, but anyone and everyone that approves of, promotes, and plays a role in MAID, is admitting that they do not see God as Sovereign, as Ruler over life and death. It is a wickedness that is wildly promoted and popular, and it saddens me greatly to hear accounts of these occurrences.  

You didn't choose your birth date, your parents, your country of origin, your hair or eye colour, or your siblings. You have no right to choose your death date, or how it happens, or where, or with whom. You have the privilege of praising God for breath, and life, family and friends, food, clothing, shelter, and the blessing of work. Praising God is your duty, and as I said, your privilege too. 

We are commanded not to kill. This seems so very simple to me, and yet ... 

I pray this piece of writing changes minds, if readers have been considering MAID as an escape option for life on planet earth. Heaven awaits those that put their faith in God as Sovereign, and there are no sneak in the back way entrance points, to his eternal abode.
