Psalm 148
Praise ye the LORD, Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass. Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: Fire and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word: mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl: Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people unto him, Praise ye the LORD.
I was with one of my best friends. We went to a happy place, filled with gorgeous growing things. A sign drew my attention, Praying Plant. I asked a staff member nearby, Which one is the praying plant? She told me all the plants under Praying Plant, were praying plants, but I did not know what this meant. Another staff member was asked to clarify, and to share what she knows, which helped peak my curiosity, but it was the YouTube videos I watched this morning, that satisfied my interest in learning more; seeing these plants in action, had me weeping in appreciation for what comes naturally to living things, which is to saying, all of God's creatures, all of his creations, are meant to worship and praise him.
Time lapse videos show the opening and closing of leaves for praying plants, as though they are putting their hands together at night in prayer mode, and opening them up in worship when the sun is shining. Do you, dear reader, pray when you go to sleep, and in the morning, open your arms wide to receive the days light, glorifying the LORD, in praise?
Praying before sleep is an act of grate-fullness for the day spent, and a trust fall too - you are irresistibly falling asleep, and trusting that the LORD will keep you during the night. When the suns rays beam in to open your eyes, it is God's way of letting you know that this is the day the LORD hath made, and if your first thoughts go to him and all he has done for you, then perhaps you are like a delightful prayer plant, fawning over him, displaying your hope, and faith, in the One that made you.
Psalm 148 brings tears to my eyes. All of creation worships the LORD God Almighty. Man, in his willful ignorance, chooses not to worship his creator. I read recently, that God's people are called Wisdom's Children. It is wise to honour God will every fibre of our being; it is gratitude and appreciation for his mercy and grace, that has us praying and praising, all day, just like the praying plants.
A skeptic might mock my analogies regarding the actions of praying plants. I don't mind if they do. Skeptics are subject to the laws of nature, just like you and I are, just like all of creation is, and it matters not, what objections they speak: they are governed by the very same hand that placed planets and water in the heavens, furries in the forests, and people to populate the earth.
You and I, did none of these things, and yet, we benefit from all of these things without effort.
How marvellous.
Praise ye the LORD.
